Support Group for Elderly Doctors (SGED)

Objectives

MMA Support Group for Elderly Doctors (SGED) was formed in October 1999, to offer support to elderly doctors whose age is 70 years and above. The group's main objective is to support elderly doctors in general terms, but as a first step, to render essential care services- information, finance and social care – to elderly doctors who are in need of medical care.
There are currently 450 doctors (2006) in Myanmar who are older than 70 years. Perhaps, about half are unable to make ends-met financially.
